UPDATE: Highway 43 has reopened. The RCMP says its initial investigation has found that a pickup truck heading east on the highway tried to turn north onto Secondary Highway 733 when it hit a small SUV heading west on the highway.
A 60-year-old man from Grande Prairie in the SUV was killed in the crash. One person in the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Traffic is being detoured around a fatal crash on Highway 43. It was reported around 8:20 p.m. Friday at the intersection with Secondary Highway 670 near Bezanson.
Eastbound traffic is being rerouted through Bezanson, while westbound traffic is being directed to use Township Road 724.
The RCMP, EMS, and firefighters are on the scene of the two vehicle collision. One person from one of the vehicles has been declared dead. Their identity will not be released by police.
An RCMP investigation is underway.
