GP 100 Soap Box Derby returns

The GP 100 Soap Box Derby is back for another year. The Grande Prairie Rotary After Five Club organized the first one last year for the city’s centennial, and it was considered a huge success with more than 65 racers.

This year’s event is set for Saturday May 30th in the same spot on the street immediately west of Hillside School. Sponsored drivers aged 9 to 14 will race is several heats throughout the day, starting around 10 a.m.

Awards will be handed out for best race times and kart designs. The public is invited to line the street and watch the action, cheering on their favourite soap box.
