City warns of potential delays as geotechnical drilling begins on 116 Avenue

Drivers are being warned to expect delays as crews have kicked off geotechnical drilling on 116 Avenue from 100 Street to the Bear Creek bridges.

The city says the drilling will take place to confirm asphalt and gravel thickness, as well to explore soil type and properties. For drivers, this means 116 Avenue will remain open, but alternating one-lane traffic will be implemented as work progresses. Traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one lane when passing workers.

Throughout construction, the speed limit will be limited to 30 kilometres per hour. Work is expected to wrap up by August 20th.
