One dead following collision near Wembley

One person has died following a collision between a pickup truck and a semi-truck near Wembley. The Beaverlodge RCMP says the collision happened on Highway 724 near Township Road 724 north of Wembley around 7:30 p.m. Monday night.

Police say it’s believed a northbound pickup truck attempted to pass a northbound semi truck when it rear-ended the northbound semi, causing it to spin out into the southbound lane, where it was then hit by a southbound semi truck. The 32-year-old driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased on scene.
