Wildfire west of Fox Creek classified as out of control

Alberta Wildfire crews continue to battle a fire west of Fox Creek that, as of 8 p.m. Thursday,, was still classified as burning out of control.

The fire, identified as GWF 032, is estimated to be about 25 hectares in size and is 61 kilometres west of the municipality in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. Officials say airtankers were successful in slowing the spread of the blaze, and were also busy laying fire retardant around the majority of the wildfire’s edge, while crews continue to douse hotspots.

Firefighters will continue to work to extinguish the fire with helicopters support with bucketing operations.
