UPDATE: Downtown area cleared after incident at Scotiabank in Grande Prairie

UPDATE: The area is now clear. The streets had been blocked off between Nordic Court and the Scotiabank branch on 100 Avenue. Police surveyed the situation, walked into the bank and arrested one person. The area was cleared by 4 p.m.

An incident has police blocking off a section of the downtown Grande Prairie area. Witness reports indicate the 99 and 100 blocks of 99 Street are busy with police activity.

The Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention is located in that area and has confirmed to MyGrandePrairieNow.com that they have been informed of an ongoing incident but don’t know the nature.

MyGrandePrairieNow.com has reached out to RCMP for information.
