Wembley water reservoir below safe levels

The Town of Wembley is now under a Level 3 Water Restriction. Residents can no longer use water outside, like for washing cars and buildings, and watering lawns. However, they can still water flower beds and vegetable gardens by hand using a watering can or hose with a nozzle.

Mayor Chris Turnmine says the town’s aquifer isn’t keeping up with demand coming from extremely warm and dry conditions. He adds that the town is waiting for Alberta Environment to issue a water licence for a new well that will keep the reservoir at maximum capacity.

Currently it keeps enough for three days, but is below safe levels, so water will be hauled in.
