New fire halls for Grovedale, Debolt being built

Construction is underway on new fire halls for Debolt and Grovedale. Just under $7 million is budgeted for each, which includes helipads, training areas, and offices.

They’ll also act as satellite offices for the MD of Greenview, away from its home in Valleyview. Reeve Dale Gervais says having them will help the whole Municipal District grow.

“We’re running out of room in the old one. Grovedale’s fire hall is quite old and somewhat inadequate. The Grovedale Fire Department does about 200 calls a year; the Highway 40 and the surrounding area is a big draw for their services. It’s just going to make it that much better to provide that.”

Gervais notes that the land for the Debolt hall was generously donated by resident Don Warkentin. It’s expected move in day will be within a year.
