Lois Mitchell appointed Lieutenant Governor of Alberta

Alberta has a new lieutenant governor. Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today that Lois Mitchell will take over from the Honourable Donald S. Ethell, who has held the position since May 2010.

Mitchell has extensive business experience in Alberta, and is a senior partner and founder of a consulting and marketing firm. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2012 and has also received the Queen Elizabeth the second Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Mitchell has knowledge on areas from culture and education to business and sports, and sits on several boards like UBS Bank and the Canadian Women’s Hockey Association as Chair.
