One of the biggest fundraising events of the year for Big Brothers Big Sisters is coming up this Friday. Amy Mohr, Executive Director of the Grande Prairie chapter, says local children will benefit from the money raised during Bowl for Kids Sake.
“The funds raised stay in our community and help match kids with positive and caring adult role models. We are always looking for mentors as well and some of this money is used to help us recruit and to do the screening and training of those mentors.”
Last year’s event raised $10,000 and Mohr says she’s hoping to reach that goal again by Friday. There are some new features for the event this year as well.
“We have an online silent auction and the items will also be at the bowling alley for final bids on Friday. We also have online donations available this year as well so teams can form a group page and then invite their friends, family, and co-workers to pledge donations.”
Mohr says they are looking for a few more teams to fill out the roster of 15 teams. The fundraising minimum for each team is $250. You can register by contacting Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
