Drive safe this May long weekend

The first weekend of camping season is officially upon us, and with that RCMP Constable Jamie Day is encouraging those travelling this weekend to make sure their route is prepared before they hit the road.

“Plan your weekend accordingly and take the time to plan your route, your direction. We understand that people are excited to see family or go camping for the first time this season; we just recommend to slow down, take your time, and get your family there safe.”

There will be teams of Traffic Enforcement out on highways this weekend watching particularly for aggressive and speedy drivers, as well as those under the influence behind the wheel.

Day says they will be out in greater numbers than they were last year, but their main priority is that everyone have a safe and enjoyable May long weekend.
