AHS encouraging ATV safety this May Long Weekend

Those planning on firing up their off road vehicles this weekend are being encouraged to be safe out on the trails. According Alberta Health Services, between April 1, 2014 to March 31 of this year 318 Albertans under the age of 16 were injured riding on ATV’s.

40 of those children had to be admitted to hospital, two of them passed away.

Since April 19 seven more children have been sent to hospital for off-roading injuries, another of which died.

Children under the age of 16 years old are not recommended to drive or ride in an ATV. Those who are driving or riding are encouraged to wear protective gear, buckle up, get proper training for using an ATV, and drive sober.
