Annual MS Walk seeking participants

Friends and family of those living with Multiple Sclerosis will be supporting their loved ones later this month during the annual MS Walk at Muskoseepi Park. Organizers are still looking to get numbers up as they typically have 120 to 150 walkers but are sitting at 76 so far.

MS Society Grande Prairie Coordinator Carla Holton says the walk is open to anyone whose life has been touched by M-S and would like to take part.

“It’s just going to be a great family day, and then of course the proceeds go directly to the MS Society. Some of it goes to our local programs and some of it goes to research. Ultimately the goal is to eventually find a cure.”

Last year the walk raised $40,000. Holton says those in the region living with MS really value the programs that are made possible by the fundraising.

“Those programs are huge. The response from anyone who attends the yoga or the water therapy is that it helps with their mobility, it helps with stiffness, and also with getting out in the community because sometimes you can be isolated when you have a chronic illness.”

You can register to take part in the May 30 event online at MSwalks.ca.
