The playground across from Swanavon School is getting torn down over the next couple of days. Mick Phillips, Maintenance Manager for the City, says the wooden structure on 100th Street has reached the end of its life, and is being replaced next month.
Phillips argues it’s safer to get rid of it before it deteriorates.
The new playground in front of D Company Amouries is being funded and maintained by the Grande Prairie Public School Board and the Swanavon Parent Association.
A fence has been put around the area for safety.
