Feds provide $319K for summer job creation locally

More than $319,000 federal funding will help create jobs in the Peace Country this summer.

In particular, they will be jobs for secondary and post-secondary students looking to gain experience and broaden their skills. The funding is to be used for job creation in the public sector, not-for-profit-organizations, and in small businesses that employ no more than 50 people.

It’s estimated that the Canada Summer Jobs program will create roughly 35,000 summer jobs for those who are 15 to 30 years old and planning to return to their studies this fall.

Since the program was created in 2006 more than 300,000 students have been helped.
