Western Alberta unemployment rate lowest in province

For the third straight month, the Western Alberta unemployment rate has dropped, as it now sits at 5.3 per cent for the month of January. That’s down from 6.4 per cent in December 2021, and down from 9.9 per cent in January 2021.

The region that houses Grande Prairie is also the lowest unemployment rate in the province, with Drumheller-Camrose next at 6.2 per cent.

Alberta overall saw its seasonally adjusted unemployment rise sightly from 6.9 to 7.0 percent.
