County makes room for two new schools in Whispering Ridge

The County of Grande Prairie has approved the construction of two new schools in Whispering Ridge. Both the Peace Wapiti and Grande Prairie Catholic School Divisions have had their eye on the subdivision.

A junior/senior Catholic high school is now set for a spot in the southwest, on 108th Avenue and Range Road 62. The school board likes the area as it’s close to the Crosslink County Sportsplex, Arbour Hills and Royal Oaks neighbourhoods, and roads into the city and county.

A K to 8 school will be built in the northeast by PWSD. It was announced by the province last October with room initially for 450 students, eventually growing to 600.
