UPDATE#2: Traffic is now flowing both east and westbound on 68 Avenue.
Update: A train derailment has closed down 68 Avenue to traffic between 92 Street and Resources Road.
The City of Grande Prairie says CN Rail has dispatched crews to work on the derailment from outside of Grande Prairie.
There is no timeline for the roadway to reopen.
The Grande Prairie RCMP is on scene at the train crossing at 68 Avenue.
While precise details of the incident are limited, drivers stuck at the crossing reached out to mygrandeprairienow.com Friday morning, reporting the train had been blocking the roadway for at least 20 minutes prior to police arrival on scene.
We have reached out to the RCMP for details, but have yet to receive a reply. As of 8 a.m, the crossing remains blocked, and drivers are being detoured away from the area.
