Extreme cold warning issued for Grande Prairie region

An extreme cold warning has been issued for the City of Grande Prairie and the greater Peace Country. Environment Canada says wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 45 will develop tonight.

The national climate and meteorological service says wind chill values will moderate Wednesday for most regions, though parts of far northern Alberta will see wind chill values near minus 40 again Wednesday night.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill create an elevated risk to health such as frostbite and hypothermia.
