Icy conditions prompt County to urge caution on gravel roads

Drivers on gravel roads in the County of Grande Prairie are being urged to use extreme caution, as road conditions are less than ideal due to heavy swings in the weather in recent weeks.

County officials say thanks to rapid shifts in temperature leading to repeated freeze and thaw cycles, gravel roads across the region remain icy in spots, and vehicles over one tonne are recommended to carry tire chains.

Drivers are also advised to reduce speed around equipment, drive to conditions, and keep a fair distance between vehicles.
