Two charged after stolen property recovered near Debolt

Two people have been charged after the Grande Prairie RCMP and Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit seized a plethora of allegedly stolen goods from a property southeast of Debolt.

Police say an investigation into thefts in the area led them to execute a search warrant on the property on December 11th, 2021, during which, they allegedly found two pickup trucks, a cargo trailer full of tools, three welding units, a light tower, hundreds of pounds of stripped copper wire stolen from local well sites, copper stripping equipment, power tools and approximately 20 grams of what is believed to be meth.

31-year-old Thomas Emard and 30-year-old Amanda Gies, both of Debolt, have subsequently been charged with multiple counts of possession of property obtained by crime and drug offenses. Police say Emard was also wanted on 14 outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.

Both have been released from custody and will next appear in a Grande Prairie court on January 24th.
