The Correctional Service of Canada will be looking into the circumstances of the death of an inmate at Grande Cache Institution. Maxime Boucher passed away on January 5th, having been at the facility since April 19, 2021.
At the time of his death, Boucher had been serving a sentence of nine years, three months, and three days sentence for attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery – use of firearm, assault – intentional use of force, motor vehicle theft, fraud, and break, enter and commit. When he was initially charged in November 2020, he was 27 years old with no fixed address.
The CSC says his next of kin have been notified, and the police and the coroner will be as well. The government agency reviews the circumstances of all cases involving the death of an inmate.
