Poor road conditions reported around Grande Prairie

Drivers should be extra careful on the roads around Grande Prairie. They are reported to be slippery and snow-covered, thanks to recent snowfall, cold weather, and blowing snow.

The Grande Prairie RCMP is asking drivers to be extra careful and plan ahead, including making sure all windows, side mirrors, and lights are properly cleared of snow. Drivers should also make sure their lights are turned on, slow down and give more time to slow and stop, and check 511 Alberta for updated weather and road reports.

Anyone planning on leaving town should prepare for changing road and weather conditions by packing blankets and an emergency kit. As of early Sunday afternoon, roads conditions on highways around Grande Prairie are listed as being partly covered in snow or ice with poor visibility.
