City of Grande Prairie cancels outdoor NYE plans, fireworks to go ahead

The City of Grande Prairie had planned to host an outdoor event dubbed the ‘New Years Eve-Ning Out’ but unfortunately, due to frigid temperatures, all outdoor-related activities have been cancelled. The dual fireworks will go ahead as planned, drive-in style.

In a statement, the City of Grande Prairie says the safety of the horses, volunteers, performers, and patrons was considered. The New Years Resolution Tree will be on display in Ernie Radbourne Pavilion for anyone to submit their resolutions for 2022. Submissions can be made by emailing programming, through the Muskoseepi Park Facebook page, or in person, as long as they are printed off.

Hot chocolate will be available for purchase between 6 P.M. and 10 P.M. The dual firework show is set to take place at 10 P.M. over the reservoir and at the CKC East Field beside Eastlink Centre.
