Two Grande Prairie residents charged with weapons offences

As part of an investigation by the Grande Prairie Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Combined Enforcement Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) that dates back to December 8th, 2021, two Grande Prairie residents have been charged with weapons offences.

A search warrant was obtained on December 8th, 2021, with the assistance of the Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Service. Following the search of a residence, authorities located two handguns and magazines, a semi-automatic rifle, prohibited magazines, a prohibited shotgun, and various shotgun and rifle ammunition.

Chace Coady, 26, of Grande Prairie has been charged with possession of a firearm in an unauthorized place and weapons trafficking. Coady was released to attend Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Feb. 28, 2022. Matthew Joseph Hollis, 29, of Grande Prairie has been charged with several weapons offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a loaded prohibited weapon. Hollis was released to attend Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Feb. 22, 2022.
