Grande Prairie-Smoky voter turnout jumps 10 per cent

The Grande Prairie – Smoky riding saw a 10 per cent increase in voter turnout this election. 56 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballot on Tuesday, compared to 45 in 2008.

Turnout was up in GP – Wapiti as well, from 47.5 per cent three years ago to 52 this year.

The province saw its highest ever advance turnout at 31 per cent, which translated into the highest turnout since 1993. 58 per cent of voters came out, up from 55 in 2012 and 40 in 2008.
