Grande Prairie Public Library bringing back Stories by the Fire

As winter weather is in full effect, the GPPL is bringing back an event called Stories by the Fire in the reading lounge, with holiday-themed stories that are suitable for all ages.

Mikyla Meyer, Children’s Program Coordinator at GPPL says they’ve run the event before the COVID-19 pandemic, during the holidays, and felt like it was worth bringing back again.

“This one will be a bit different. As much as we can, we wanted to try some in-person programming again just to see what the engagement is like. Overall, we mainly want to bring people together,” she says.

Meyer says that although the books are for children, anyone is welcome to attend, even if they just want to sit by the fire and warm up.

“We want to encourage anyone that is interested to come and check it out. We will also be giving away a select amount of gift-wrapped children’s books,” she adds.

The event is held on three separate occasions, December 16th, December 20th, and December 21st. It runs from 6:30-7 P.M. each day. The December 16th session is catered to very young children, the December 20th event is for younger children, and the session on December 21st is more for older children.
