UPDATE: Extreme cold warning ended for Grande Prairie region

UPDATE: The previously issued weather statement has ended, as of 10:39 A.M on December 15th.

An extreme cold warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the Grande Prairie region, as the temperature overnight is expected to drop to near -40 with the wind chill.

The meteorological service says that anyone going outside should be sure to dress warmly and in layers. Additionally, if it is too cold for you outside, you should take the same precautions with your dog and or pets.

Watch for colour changes on fingers and toes, pain, numbness, a tingling sensation, or swelling. If you notice any of these things, move indoors and warm up immediately.
