Alberta students elect NDP majority

If Alberta students had their way, the NDP would be coming out of this election with a majority. In the mock vote held Monday, the New Democrats were elected to 56 seats, while the Wildrose earned 23 and the Progressive Conservatives 6. Liberal Leader David Swann won his seat in Calgary-Mountain View, while Alberta Party leader Greg Clark won his seat in Calgary-Elbow.

In both Grande Prairie ridings, the NDP stole the show, with almost 40 per cent of the vote in GP-Smoky for Todd Russell. Todd Loewen and the Wildrose took nearly 32 per cent in that riding, followed by Everett McDonald with 14.5 per cent for the PCs and Liberal Kevin McLean with 14.

The NDP’s Mary Dahr earned the top spot in GP-Wapiti with 34 per cent. The Alberta Party’s Rory Tarant was right behind with 24 per cent, while Laila Goodridge with the Wildrose earned 22.5, and incumbent Wayne Drysdale took home almost 19 per cent of the vote for the Progressive Conservatives.
