“A New Day” event for suicide survivors in Grande Prairie

Grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide can be difficult and complicated, and survivors often forget to take time to look after themselves. The Suicide Prevention Resource Centre is hosting a drop-in event this Saturday, which coordinator Faris Jean Atkinson says is to remind suicide survivors and those that support them that self-care is still important.

“Oftentimes you have to look after other people as well, and just daily living, so it’s very hard to take time to look after yourself. Not only that, but sometimes people don’t feel they deserve to look after themselves, as funny as that might sound.”

From 1 to 5 Saturday at Centre 2000, survivors can get a massage, learn about Reiki, and create art, while connecting with others who have been through the same experience.
