County approves $94K in transportation grants

County of Grande Prairie Council has given the green light to nearly $94,487 in grants for local non-profit groups that provide transportation to seniors and those with special needs.

The Disabled Transportation Society of Grande Prairie is the biggest recipient of the funding, with more than $49,500 going their way.

Also approved for transportation grants is the Twilight Club of LaGlace, the Golden Years Club of Bezanson, the Hythe Golden Age Craft Centre and the Sexsmith Sunset Homes and Tenant Association among others.

Reeve Leanne Beaupre says it’s important to support those organizations that improve the quality of life of the county’s more vulnerable citizens.
