Attempted murder sentence expected today

A Grande Prairie man is expected to be sentenced today for trying to kill another man nearly a year and a half ago. 24 year old Cory Haddock plead guilty to attempted murder last month, while his charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose was withdrawn.

Haddock was taken into custody on December 23, 2013, when police found a man who had been stabbed in the neck at a downtown housing complex. He was arrested at the scene without incident, while the victim was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Last year, Haddock was sentenced to 16 days in jail for assaulting a police officer outside a bar.
