Rain pushes Grande Prairie-area wildfire hazard to low

The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie region has gone back down to low.

Wildfire Information Officer Kelly Burke says rain and cooler temperatures mean there’s less of a risk of a blaze sparking this weekend. Permits are still required for any burning other than a camp fire.

So far this season there have been seven wildfires in the Grande Prairie Wildfire Management Area that have burned almost 13 hectares of land.
