Catholic School Board picks Whispering Ridge for new Jr/Sr High

The Grande Prairie Catholic School District has settled on a location for its new junior-senior high school.

The 1,100 student school was announced by the province last October, as part of the largest ever capital announcement for the district.

It will be located in Whispering Ridge, on 108th Avenue and Range Road 62, just inside the County of Grande Prairie.

The school board argues the site is close to the Crosslink County Sportsplex, Arbour Hills and Royal Oaks neighbourhoods, and roads into the city and county.

The junior/senior high is set to open in 2018, while the new K to 9 school in Royal Oaks should open in 2016.
