Parents concerned about changes to Eastlink Centre PlayCare

The information isn’t even up on the Eastlink Centre’s website yet, but concerns are already growing about changes to its PlayCare program.

According to a posted flyer, the drop in program has been changed to a scheduled, preschool-like system that lasts seven weeks at a time and is only for children two to five years old, starting May 1st.

Laura Hughes is a member at the facility, and is worried about the lack of flexibility and the increase in cost for parents and staff that use the service.

More than 200 people opposed to the changes have also joined a Facebook group.

A meeting has been scheduled for Thursday morning at 10:45 in the centre’s boardroom for parents to voice their concerns.

Calls to Eastlink Centre management have not yet been returned.
