Trail derailment at 116th Avenue in Grande Prairie

UPDATE: 116th Avenue has reopened to traffic.

Traffic on 116th Avenue has been affected by a train derailment near the Prairie Mall.

Roughly five cars carrying canola have left the tracks.

No hazardous goods are involved and no injuries have been reported.

The area is not expected to be cleared until some time tomorrow, so drivers are asked to use an alternate route as traffic can’t travel over the tracks east or westbound.
