Mirelle Martens named ACAC Female Athlete of the Year

Grande Prairie Regional College student athlete Mirelle Martens has been named the ACAC Female Athlete of the year.

Martens has established herself as an impressive cross-country runner and one of the best to ever compete in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association.

Martens has earned individual gold medals in both provincial and national collegiate competitions, and also led her GPRC Wolves Women’s team to a national title last fall.

Martens also place third at the Athletics Canada Junior Women’s Cross Country Championship in November and qualified to run on Team Canada.

She then placed 94th in the IAAF World Cross Country Running Championships in China earlier this year.

All the while Martens has maintained a 4.0 grade point average in the Bachelor of Physical Education program at the GPRC.
