The Future Shop location in Grande Prairie has closed down, as part of a company-wide closure of 66 stores.
Another 65 are being temporarily closed and turned into Best Buys.
The company points out that many of its Future Shop and Best Buy locations are next to each other or in the same parking lot, like in the Swan City.
The transition means roughly 500 full-time and 1,000 part-time positions have been eliminated.
The number of jobs in Grande Prairie affected have not yet been confirmed.
Any Future Shop gift cards, product orders, and warranties will be honoured by Best Buy.
