Peace River Airport getting roof replacement

After a report last year found leaking and other issues, the roof of the Peace River Airport is getting replaced.

A roofing company did an inspection last year and recommended the removal.

An invitation for tender has gone out, with responses due by mid-April.

Acting Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Sandi Adams says they hope to have the work done by June.

“We’re trying to have the deadline before school lets out, where all the roofers go to work on schools; if we had it during the summer the chances are that price would be up higher.”

The project is being funded by both the Town of Peace River and Northern Sunrise County.

The roof is the orginal from when the new terminal was built in 1984.
