On top of a wind warning, much of the Peace Country is now also under a snow squall warning. Environment Canada says periods of brief but intense snowfall are expected in the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview and Peace River – Fairview – High Prairie – Manning regions.
“A brief band of heavy snow has developed and is [expected] to move from northwest portions of Alberta towards the Edmonton region, and continue to move southeast this evening.”
It’s noted that visibility will be rapidly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow. Wind could gust more than 90 kilometres an hour overnight.
“Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably,” explains Environment Canada. “Changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.”
Drivers are warned travel could be dangerous.
