Evergreen Park needs funds to be ready for emergency

Evergreen Park is hoping the local municipalities will provide them some funding to fortify their facility in case of an emergency.

In case of a disaster, the park is a designated emergency evacuation centre and needs to be prepared to house 3,000 to 4,000 people.

General Manager Dan Gorman says the amount of power required to run just the Entrec Centre’s kitchens, air conditions, heaters and everything else is massive.

“We also have a pump system out there, because that’s where our water comes from, and it relies on power to work, and we have the large Gordon Badger Stadium that also has a restaurant in there that requires a significant amount of power as well.”

The County and City of Grande Prairie, along with the MD of Greenview, are being asked to provide $125,000 each.
