Local seniors lodges getting fire sprinkler upgrades

Heritage Lodge, Wild Rose Manor, and Pioneer Lodge in Grande Prairie are getting upgrades to their fire sprinkler systems.

The provincial government has committed $80 million to improving safety systems at 105 seniors housing and continuing care facilities.

Many were built before 1990, before sprinklers became mandatory, and the highest risk facilities were chosen based on assessments done by housing management.

Projects are also set for seniors lodges in Whitecourt, Valleyview, Spirit River, Hythe, Hines Creek, and Falher.
