New apartments driving housing starts in Grande Prairie

After a big drop last month, housing starts are again up in Grande Prairie.

Construction started on 13 single and 4 multiple family homes in February.

In 2014, there were no multiples and only six singles.

Year-to-date, the city is still lagging behind last year’s pace early on, with 19 housing starts, compared to 29 at this point.

Numbers are up across the province overall, which the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation attributes to more condos and apartments being built.
