A man from Grande Prairie has been arrested after an incident in Spruce Grove yesterday ended with damage to a police cruiser and an officer firing his gun.
The 47 year old was pulled over on Highway 16 near Stony Plain around 3 pm yesterday, but sped off before the sheriff could approach.
RCMP in Spruce Grove then tried to pull the driver over a short while later, which is when the driver rammed into a cruiser with an officer inside.
The vehicle was stopped after an officer discharged their weapon, though no one was injured.
The man was also wanted on several unrelated warrants.
Because no one was hurt the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team will not being investigating, though they will review the RCMP report on the discharge of the pistol.
