UPDATE: Grande Prairie man charged after Spruce Grove bust up

UPDATE: 22 year old Andrew Pike of Grande Prairie has been charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, two counts of assaulting a police officer and assault with a weapon, possession of stolen property under and over $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with a condition of recognizance. Pike is in police custody and will appear in Stony Plain court on Wednesday. An earlier release from police incorrectly stated his age as 47 years old.

A man from Grande Prairie has been arrested after an incident in Spruce Grove yesterday ended with damage to a police cruiser and an officer firing his gun.

The 47 year old was pulled over on Highway 16 near Stony Plain around 3 pm yesterday, but sped off before the sheriff could approach.

RCMP in Spruce Grove then tried to pull the driver over a short while later, which is when the driver rammed into a cruiser with an officer inside.
