Rycroft, Team Canada win 2015 Brier

Team Canada has won the 2015 Brier and is heading to world’s in Halifax.

Grande Prairie is well represented on the team by homegrown second Carter Rycroft and alternate Tom Sallows.

The men beat Brad Jacobs and Team Northern Ontario 6-5 to host the cup Sunday.

It’s the second consecutive win for Rycroft, who was also named to the Brier All Star Team.

The rink was originally skipped by John Morris, who stepped down on the third day of the competition, making room for Pat Simmons to step up.

Sallows was asked by Morris to play fifth after his performance at provincials.

Beaverlodge’s Geoff Walker and Team Newfoundland lost to Saskatchewan in the bronze medal game.
