Sexsmith grain elevator demolition underway

Crews began bringing down one of the two remaining grain elevators in Sexsmith Thursday.
The demolition of the building was expected to be done at some point this spring, but was bumped up to this week due the presence of crews from the clean up of the elevator that burnt down in January.
Crews began by stripping the tin and siding from the building.
The rest of the wood from the building is to be taken to a pit and burned.
In the meantime, Sexsmith’s town council is still trying to decide whether or not they will preserve the final standing grain elevator.
