Petrova fined for violating Public Lands Act

One of the two people charged in connection to “Freeman-on-the-land” allegations has been found guilty of violating the Public Lands Act.

40 year old Shaunda Petrova was arrested in 2013 along with then 40 year old Paul Fiola after complaints that the pair had taken over a trapper’s cabin in the area of Kerr Creek about 80 km south of Grande Prairie.

There were allegations that the two were threatening trappers and forestry workers in the area as well.

Petrova has been fined $1000 for the charge, while Fiola remains at large after failing to appear for a court date last August.
