A Catholic priest from Manning accused of sexually assaulting a minor is having his day in court.
60 year old Abraham Azakathu was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a minor and sexual interference in March of last year.
RCMP say the charges are a result of a minor reporting assaults that happened in 2013, though no more details have been revealed in an effort to protect the identity of the minor.
For the past year Azhakathu has been on strict conditions not to live anywhere outside of Alberta, though not in Manning, and not to be with anyone under the age of 16.
His is trial is scheduled for two days, and is expected to wrap up tomorrow.
