Deadline to weigh in on secondary suites approaching

Tomorrow is the cut off for any residents who would like to weigh in on how the city should regulate secondary suites.

Over the past several years the number of these dwellings built into single detached homes has grown enough to start causing issues with congestion particularly in the neighborhoods where they are most popular.

Proposed amendments to the Land Use Bylaw would limit secondary suites to a maximum of two bedrooms and 40 per cent of floor space in homes that are within a permitted residential zone.

The zones would also only permit a maximum of 3 suites within a 50 metre radius.

Feedback on the proposed changes can be made to the City Planner Alison Downing at 780-538-0434 or [email protected].
