Grande Prairie unofficially set a weather record on Wednesday, as the coldest August 12th on record.
According to Environment Canada, the low came in the morning hours with the mercury dipping to just 2 degrees Celsius. It fell just under the previous record of 2.2 degrees Celsius set back in 1958.
The average nighttime low for August in Grande Prairie is 9.0 degrees Celcius.
